Last night's hotly contested Champions League clash between Barcelona and Man City didn't end at the final whistle, according to reports in the Spanish press.

Argentine maestro Lionel Messi put the Spanish giants in front before an Ilkay Gundogan double and a Kevin De Bruyne free kick saw Pep Guardiola's side secure a crucial 3-1 in at the Ethiad.

City were well worth their victory but it appears that the post-match antics of one of their stars angered Messi.

Cadena Ser and Mundo Deportivo are reporting that the Barca striker exchanged words with an opponent in the tunnel and Messi was annoyed enough at the back and forth to follow the verbal assailant to the dressing room door to continue their war of words.

Sergio Aguero apparently had to come out and calm down his compatriot before the situation was defused.

Last night's result could signal a shift in the Barcelona v Man City rivalry, with the English giants beating Luis Enrique's side for the first time in the Champions League.
