Eamon Dunphy: If PSG meet Man City in the next round they'll kill them
RTE pundit Eamon Dunphy doesn’t expect Paris Saint-Germain to win this season’s Champions League, but believes they are far stronger than the remaining Premier League sides.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic sent Chelsea tumbling out of Europe as the French club claimed a 2-1 last-16 second-leg win at Stamford Bridge, to add to their victory by the same scoreline in the first-leg.
Discussing the match afterwards, Dunphy asserted that Laurent Blanc’s side are a “player or two” from a side capable of winning the competition, but says they will causes sides problems with the like of Ibrahimovic, Di Maria, Veratti and Silva to call upon.
The former Republic of Ireland international heaped praise on PSG's technical quality and predicts that they will have little problems if they come up against Premier League opposition again in the quarter-finals.
Arsenal appear unlikely to be in the draw for the next round as they travel to the Nou Camp with a 2-0 deficit, though Manchester City should progress after a 3-1 success away to Dynamo Kyiv in the first leg.
“If they play City, they’ll kill them. They’ll kill them,” he told listeners.
PSG advanced to a fourth straight Champions League quarter-final while the Blues are left to contemplate the probability of being absent from the competition next season.
