Chelsea need to get their season back on track quickly and could get the ball rolling with a win over Maccabi Tel Aviv tonight. The Blues will also have visits to Ukraine and Portugal to contend with.

FC Porto

Coach: Julen Lopetegui

Star turn: Iker Casillas

A run to last season’s quarter-finals and a first leg win against Bayern Munich confirmed that this consistent Champions League outfit are a threat against the best. However, they were blown away by Bayern in the second leg of that last-eight tie as they lack of genuine class was exposed.

Dynamo Kiev

Coach: Serhiy Rebrov

Star turn: Niko Kranjcar

Former Spurs striker Rebrov is forging a coaching career in the Champions League with Kiev this season and while they are a dominant force in Ukrainian football, the step up in class will be too much for them against Chelsea and FC Porto.

Maccabi Tel Aviv

Coach: Slavisa Jokanovic

Star turn: Tal Ben Haim

Coach Jokanovic has swapped a successful promotion push with Watford last season to get his Champions League chance with Israel’s champions. A third place finish and a place in the later stages of the Europa League is a realistic target.
