'Celtic unlucky? They were lucky it wasn’t 4-0'

Malmo’s words again caused a stir after Celtic crashed out of the Champions League last night, with the Bhoys upset with the decision to disallow a goal during the encounter.

Manager Age Hareide had earlier clarified  his ‘keeper Johan Wiland’s comments which had described Celtic players as ‘pigs’ and ‘children’  before the match.

Hareide, who had explained that Wiland’s quotes were out of context, did not hold back when asked about the Hoops’ disallowed goal for an apparent fowl on his ‘keeper before the  break.

“Why are you asking me if Celtic were unlucky?" said Hareide

“Celtic were lucky because it could have been 4-0 to us. Their goalkeeper had two fantastic saves. If they got that goal it would have been 2-1 to us – we would have gone through.”

He was perhaps correct as Celtic failed to respond to a fitter side  who haven't lost a home European game in 11 matches.Hoo

Downbeat boss Ronnie Deila would apparently agree with the last part of the statement at least, speaking after the match.

“Today we performed not even close to what we can do,” he said.

“We have played well in many, many games this season but today we looked scared and uncomfortable on the ball and very stressed, and that's my responsibility.

“So I have to go through this what happened and learn from this. We have to get better, that's the main thing. Now we were close but when you have a performance like this we don't deserve to get in there."
