Capello a great manager - Trap
GIOVANNI TRAPATTONI believes England have lost a "great manager" in Fabio Capello, WRITES RUAIDHRI O'CONNOR.
The Ireland boss wants to speak to his friend and former adversary before casting any judgments on Capello's decision to resign from his role as English boss this week, but he believes a similar scenario would not develop in Ireland.
"I don't know the truth, but I will when Fabio says to me why," he said. "It seems the problem originated from something that Fabio said on TV.
"Fabio resigned, he was not fired, that's different. The federation is the federation, the team is the team -- they should be different. England have lost a great manager."
Shay Given echoed his manager when asked about the comparisons during a radio interview.
"It's probably the opposite of what is happening in England," he said. "We have an Italian manager who we are all really proud to have as our manager.
"He's doing a great job and we're all really excited about the summer. We're all really excited about playing at a major championships again."
