Brendan Rodgers dismisses Joey Barton's 'tan and teeth' jibes
Brendan Rodgers has put the jibes of Joey Barton down to "the noise" of modern-day football which he will ignore to concentrate on managing Celtic.
The Rangers midfielder had previously said Celtic captain Scott Brown was "not in his league" and in a radio interview earlier in the week accused Rodgers of having "a mid-life crisis", saying: "I know the places he goes and the places I go probably differ with the tan and the teeth and that kind of thing."
Gers boss Mark Warburton described Barton's comments as "tongue-in-cheek banter" but ahead of the trip to Perth to face St Johnstone in the Ladbrokes Premiership on Saturday, the former Liverpool boss said: "It is irrelevant to me. In modern football there is lots of noise, lots of things that are said, it is something that doesn't bother me.
"My focus is purely on football and doing the very best I possibly can for my club and that's all I will ever concentrate on.
"I don't think it's a topic, it might be for you media guys but it is nothing to me. I just get on with my work, focus on my job and do the very best for my club."
