Blow for Ireland as David Meyler is ruled out for rest of season
Ireland's David Meyler has been ruled out for the rest of the season with medial knee ligament damage.
Meyler's club, Hull City, confirmed that the Irishman suffered the injury in training yesterday and won't play again this season.
The news will come as a big blow to Martin O'Neill and Ireland with a crunch World Cup qualifier coming up against Austria in the Aviva Stadium in June.
Meyler started Ireland's last qualifier against Wales following the withdrawal of James McCarthy just before kick off in the 0-0 draw.
Hull said in a short statement on Friday evening: "David Meyler will miss the rest of the season after suffering a medial knee ligament injury during training.
"We wish David well with his recovery."
