Blanco refuses to get shirty over TV bet
LEGENDARY Mexico striker Cuauhtemoc Blanco will always be treated like royalty by the fans of Club America, where he scored 125 goals in 333 appearances over 15 seasons.
So America fans who reached for their remote controls last Monday night may have got a shock by seeing Blanco wearing the jersey of hated rivals Chivas Guadalajara on prime-time TV.
However, it turned out Blanco was wearing the shirt as he had lost a bet. Blanco, who is probably most famous here for his innovative 'Bunny Hop' at the 1998 World Cup, had bet that his beloved America would beat Chivas in last Sunday's 'clasico'.
But America lost 1-0 and Blanco showed what a good sport he is by donning a Chivas jersey before saying: "Game debts are debts of honour. I'm going to come out in a rash."
