Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Turns out it's both.

The pilot of the Fenerbahce team plane has had to steer the plane to safety in Budapest after the bizarre incident occurred shortly after take-off.

The plane had to divert to Hungary after a bird cracked the plane's cockpit windshield shortly after they left Turkey.

Fenerbahce's Twitter account tweeted the news, saying: "There is nothing alarming," and posted photos of the windshield on Instagram.

The Turkish club visit Old Trafford on Thursday in the Europa League, and enter the clash as leaders of Group A.

Former United striker Robin van Persie, 33, is in line to face his former club.

Jose Mourinho's side lost to Feyenoord in their opening group game, before beating Zorya in Old Trafford last time out.
