Benfica’s tribute to Eusebio in derby win over Porto

Benfica defeated their rivals Porto 2-0 yesterday and paid further tribute to their most famous footballing son.

In a game that Benfica were almost destined to win, they won O Classico 2-0 and each player took to the field with Eusebio’s name on the back of their jersey.

Former Bolton loanee Rodrigo opened the scoring and was full of emotion as he shot past Porto ‘keeper Helton at the near post.

As well as numerous flags and banners, the entire crowd at the Estadio da Luz also chanted ‘You are our King’ in unison in the 71st minute of the game (Eusebio’s age when he died) in tribute to the Portuguese legend.
