BAYERN Munich will give Wayne Rooney a home from home if Manchester United choose to sell him this summer, according to Franz Beckenbauer.

While Manchester United wheeled out Bobby Charlton to deny strong speculation that Rooney will leave Old Trafford at the end of the season, Beckenbauer admitted that Munich would buy him without a second thought.

“I would be very, very happy if Wayne Rooney decided to come to Bayern Munich,” Beckenbauer said. “But is this a rumour or is it true? I don't know!”

According to Alex Ferguson and now Charlton, Rooney (right) is going nowhere – and talks on a new deal will open when the time is right.

“I think that is a bit premature. I don't know everything that happens at Manchester United, but I know a little,” claimed Chalrton.

“Wayne Rooney maybe has had an

injury and has not performed as well as he might have done, but that doesn't mean to say that you get rid of him.

“Alex Ferguson said that he had no intention of letting Wayne Rooney go anywhere. He is a great player - why mshould we get rid of a great player?”
