Ball boy plays it cool after run-in

Armenia midfielder Gevorg Ghazaryan has apologised for his run-in with a ball boy that saw both sent from the field during this week's 1-0 defeat to Bulgaria in a World Cup qualifier.

The 24-year-old Metallurg Donetsk player was sent for an early bath after angrily hurling the ball at the boy in Sofia on Tuesday night.

"I want to apologise to FIFA for having violated the rules of fair play," Ghazaryan wrote on his Facebook page. "I would also like to apologise to the FFA (Armenian football federation), all members of the national team, the fans and finally the guy that I hit with the ball. I understand and accept my mistake."

The ball boy was also ordered off by the fourth official, but was unfazed. "The fourth official shouted in my face 'You -- out' but it was the coolest day of my life," said Slavia Sofia junior player Bozhidar Atanasov.
