The Football Association's case against West Bromwich Albion striker Nicolas Anelka over his controversial 'quenelle' gesture is expected to begin next week.

After the French player requested a personal hearing last month, an independent three-man panel is likely to be led by a QC. If found guilty, Anelka will face mandatory educational and community work in addition to a fine and minimum five-match ban.

Meanwhile, Mark Clattenburg is to referee Southampton's game at West Ham on Saturday, the first time he will take charge of a Saints match since they filed a complaint for alleged comments he made to Adam Lallana in December.
