Andre Villas Boas is set to earn an astronomical amount of money to replace Sven Goran Eriksson in China
It pays to go to China.
The Super League has been touted as a potential landing spot for the out-of-form Wayne Rooney when he finally leaves Manchester United and when you see the latest salary being offered then it is no surprise.
Sven Goran Eriksson was sacked as manager of Shanghai SIPG last week, with Portuguese boss Andre Villas Boas agreeing to take over yesterday.
According to The Guardian, AVB is set to earn an eye-watering £11m per year. To put that in perspective, that is more money than Jurgen Klopp, Diego Simeone, Arsene Wenger and Antonio Conte make, with only Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola commanding larger salaries.
The former Porto, Chelsea and Spurs boss has been out of work since leaving Zenit St Petersburg in May, having won a league title the year before.
