A Brazilian footballer almost had his jersey and shorts ripped off during the week -- not by an opponent, but by a Rottweiler.

Bahia defender Alysson was walking off the pitch after his side's 1-1 draw with Vila Nova in a Division 2 game on Tuesday when a police dog got a little too close for comfort and went for the player.

Although he got a grip of his jersey and shorts, the vicious mutt was still on its leash and the police officer was able to prevent it from biting a large chunk out of Alysson's hamstring. The player was interviewed on TV after the incident and pointed to his ripped garments, complaining: "Someone has to do something about it. This should never happen."
