Sherlock Holmes' victory in the Vaughanshoes.ie EBF Maiden was the highlight of a Ballinrobe double for Aidan O'Brien.
Joseph O'Brien was allowed to dictate terms to suit himself on the 11-8 market leader and left enough in the tank for his mount to go away again once threatened, with two and three-quarter lengths back to runner-up Pincode as he crossed the line.
The winning jockey said: "He stays well and he has a good attitude. He handled the track quite well considering it was only his second run.
"Hopefully he might progress. If the handicapper isn't too hard on him there might be a handicap at Galway for him."
The brace was initiated by Best Kept Secret, who hadn't managed to make the frame in seven starts heading into the Vaughanshoes.ie Jennings Meats Handicap and, on 55, would be one of the lowest rated horses at Ballydoyle.
But Ana O'Brien got a good tune out of the 8-1 shot and he held the late lunge of Buzz Off Barroso by half a length.
Oceania Queen had been bumped up 10lb for her recent Fairyhouse win but she showed she is still a couple of steps ahead of the handicapper in the Vaughanshoes.ie EBF Fillies Handicap.
The in-foal 6-1 chance quickened to the front a furlong from the finish and crossed the line with a length and three-quarters in hand of Break My Mind.
Wider World sprung a 20-1 surprise in the Irish Farmers Journal Median Auction Maiden.
Ken Condon's filly failed to beat a rival home on her previous appearance at Sligo but looked a different animal this time, showing a smart change of gear at the top of the straight en route to a five-and-a-half-length defeat of Lehbab.
Jack Kennedy's star is in the ascendancy and he was seen to good effect from the front on Ruler Of France (9-2) in the Vaughanshoes.ie Kateappleby Apprentice Handicap.
Back Off Mate successfully reverted to the level in the Vaughanshoes.ie Ecco Handicap, beating Muinin by three lengths as the 9-4 favourite.
