Shay Given joins Middlesbrough on month-long loan deal
MIDDLESBROUGH have signed Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given on a month's loan.
The 37-year-old, who has also featured for Newcastle and Sunderland in the north east, will go straight into Boro's squad for the clash with Bolton on Saturday.
The Republic of Ireland international has not featured for Villa since January.
Manchester United's Will Keane has joined WIGAN on loan until New Year's Day.
Latics boss Owen Coyle revealed last week that the club had a "verbal agreement" with the Barclays Premier League champions yet a foot injury, which the 20-year-old picked up while training with the England Under-21s put the deal on ice.
Last year's FA Cup winners remained hopeful of clinching a deal this week, though, with Coyle telling a press conference on Wednesday that he was confident Keane would join his United team-mate Nick Powell at the DW Stadium.
"I'd be very surprised if that's not concluded in the next day," he told reporters prior to Wigan's Europa League clash with Zulte Waregem.
"I spoke again with (United manager) David (Moyes) just before they were flying off to Germany. We're both happy in terms of how it proceeds from a football perspective."
And, despite being confirmed after the Football League's 5pm deadline, the move was announced by United's official Twitter account on the same day they sent Will's twin brother Michael Keane to DERBY.
The two could make their respective debuts against each other when Derby travel to Wigan this Sunday.
