WATCH - Bob Geldof lends his support to Ireland's 2023 Rugby World Cup bid in poignant video

Boomtown Rats frontman Bob Geldof stars in a video to illustrate how Ireland will capitalise on its 70million-stong diaspora to create a "global stadium" for the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

The clip was used as part of Ireland bid presentation which was delivered to World Rugby in London this afternoon.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, Sports Minister Shane Ross, bid chairman Dick Spring. IRFU CEO Philip Browne, rugby legend Brian O'Driscoll and Ireland's women's captain Niamh Briggs were among the delegation that went over the deliver the presentation.

The WB Yeats-inspired video featuring Bob Geldof will make the hairs stand on the back of your neck.
