Williams out for six weeks

MARTYN Williams' slim hopes of a World Cup swansong have been dashed by the confirmation that he broke his arm against Ulster on Friday.

The Welsh flanker was on standby for the tournament in New Zealand, with captain Sam Warburton having usurped the veteran Lion in the national pecking order.

But New Zealand-born head coach Warren Gatland no longer has his former captain in reserve, after the 99-times capped Wales man was ruled out for six weeks, almost certainly bringing a curtain down on his international career.
