England World Cup winner Matt Dawson has caused a stir on Twitter after hitting out at Italy and referee Roman Poite during England's 36-15 win over Conor O'Shea's side this afternoon.

With England leading 17-15 with just under 20 minutes to go, Dawson, like many England fans, took to Twitter to vent their frustrations at Poite's perceived leniency towards the visitors.

Dawson's criticism appeared to stem from Italy's unusual tactic of committing nobody to the breakdown, thus allowing them to freely swarm the area around the tackle and cut off England's attack.

The legendary scrum-half took particular exception to the tactics and fired off a series of tweets aimed at Conor O'Shea's side.

Italy ultimately faded conceding three tries in the final 10 minutes, but it was a far cry from taking the Italians to 'the cleaners', as Eddie Jones had bullishly predicted in the build up to the game.
