Video: Paul O'Connell learning French by watching subtitled Jonny Wilkinson interviews

Paul O'Connell is busy brushing up on his French ahead of his move to Toulon and is taking inspiration from Jonny Wilkinson.

O'Connell is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury and admitted that he could spend up to eight months out depending on his recovery time.

The Irish rugby legend signed a two-year deal with Toulon and is busy getting to grips with a new language ahead of the next chapter of his career in the south of France.

"One think I’ve done over the last few weeks is I’ve trying to learn a bit of French so I look at some of the interviews Johnny Wilkinson had done," he said.

"A lot of them are subtitled and a lot of documentaries are subtitled so I try to see if I can understand what he’s saying and then I look at the subtitles. "

The Irish sporting legend said that even though his family can't wait to move, he does have concerns for his five-year-old son Paddy as he begins school in a new environment.

"You know everybody tells me that they take to it very easily but I’m kind of dreading his first day of school when I leave him off in and he isn’t able to talk to anyone or anything like that.

"He hasn’t a clue what’s going on but you know apart from that I’m really looking forward to it."
