Harlequins back-row Nick Easter is very lucky not to have suffered a serious facial injury tonight after being the victim of a vicious stamp during his side's Challenge Cup victory over the Cardiff Blues at Cardiff Arms Park.

A game that began with poignant minute's silence for former New Zealand and Blues star Jonah Lomu ended with Matthew Rees being sent-off for a very nasty stamp with four minutes remaining on the clock.

His boot makes contact with Easter's eye area in an incident which could have been a lot worse than how it turned out.

Rees was unsurprisingly red-carded for the incident.

Harlequins won the game 32-20 picking up a bonus point in the process.

A bad night for the Blues will be compounded with a lengthy ban for Rees.
