Ulster have stepped up their search for a new full-back and are said to be interested in signing Louis Ludik from French Pro D2 side, Agen.

The South African is seen as a replacement for Kiwi Jared Payne who will play at outside-centre next season.

Ludik has made 84 Super Rugby appearances with the Lions and the Sharks and has spent the last season with Agen who were beaten in the Pro D2 play-off.

Ulster have been linked with Glasgow's Stuart Hogg, but it is understood that the 27-year old Ludik is also firmly on their radar.
