Watch: Paddy Jackson pounces on Ruan Pienaar kick to open the scoring for Ulster against Cardiff
Ireland fly-half Paddy Jackson scored Ulster's first try of the game against Cardiff on Friday night when he pounced on a brilliant grubber kick from scrum-half Ruan Pienaar.
After Ulster winger Charles Piutau had found some space on the fringes of the Cardiff defence, the former All Blacks utility was quickly able to get around the outside of the visitor's defence before being dragged down in a questionable tackle from Blues winger Alex Cuthbert.
With a quick recycle of the ball, Pienaar was able to sneak in a brilliant grubber kick behind the Blues defence with Jackson quickly latching on the South African's kick to cross untouched for the opening try of the game.
Blues flanker Sam Warburton then pulled one back for the visitors on 23 minutes, but Ulster were able to restore their lead before halftime, when referee Ian Davies awarded the hosts a penalty try for a collapsed maul with Jackson adding the extras to make it 14-10 before the break.
