Iain Henderson is the most notable name missing from Ulster's 30-man squad which was scheduled to arrive in South Africa today for next week's two PRO14 games.

The 26-year-old Ireland and Lions player has played the majority of Ulster's opening two games - he got through 80 minutes against Edinburgh - and has been stood down from the mini-tour due to the national player-management programme.

Ulster play Southern Kings on Sunday in Port Elizabeth before, five days later, meeting the Cheetahs at altitude in Bloemfontein, meaning head coach Dan McFarland will undoubtedly have to rotate elements of his side.

The squad consists of 13 backs and 17 forwards with South African prop Schalk van der Merwe not making the cut for the South Africa trip.

Ulster (backs): W Addison, B Burns, D Cave, J Cooney, A Curtis, C Gilroy, A Kernohan, S McCloskey, J McPhillips, P Nelson, D Shanahan, H Speight, J Stewart.

(Forwards): J Andrew, M Coetzee, J Deysel, W Herbst, R Herring, R Kane, A McBurney, C Montgomery, A O'Connor, E O'Sullivan, T O'Toole, M Rea, S Reidy, N Timoney, K Treadwell, A Warwick, G Jones.
