Ulster 'A' are five points off pool leaders Bedford Blues but a victory in Wales today (3.00) against bottom side Scarlets Premiership Select would put them right back into contention.

The experienced Willie Faloon again skippers the side from an impressive back-row alongside No 8 Sean Reidy and Stephen Mulholland.

Lewis Stevenson and Matthew Rea will start together in the second-row for the first time, while Callum Black, John Andrew and Jonny Simpson make up the front-row.

Dave Shanahan and Sam Windsor are the half-backs while coach Alex Codling has named plenty of academy players in his match-day squad, with Johnny McPhillips and Robert Lyttle making up a back three alongside Aaron Cairns.

Youngsters Johnny Murphy, Ross Kane and John Donnan are all named among the replacements, as is former Munster scrum-half Paul Rowley.

Scarlets have shipped 97 points in their first two pool games. It is the Welsh side's first season in the competition and Ulster have enough quality in their starting XV to heap further misery on them.

Verdict: Ulster 'A'

Ulster 'A' - J McPhillips; A Cairns, C Patterson, M Best, R Lyttle; S Windsor, D Shanahan; C Black, J Andrew, J Simpson; L Stevenson, M Rea; S Mulholland, W Faloon (capt), S Reidy. Reps: J Murphy, R Murphy, R Kane, J Donnan, C Joyce, P Rowley, A Magrath.
