UCD storm to top of the table

UCD made it a perfect 10 and are now the only unbeaten team in the country as they went top of the Division 2 table with a 24-17 win at bottom side Clonakilty.

The students leapfrogged Ballynahinch, despite the Down men's 18-15 win over Belfast Harlequins. The gap between the top two and the chasing group looks insurmountable.

Ballymena saw off Trinity 26-19, Bective beat Midleton 20-3, DLSP edged out Queen's 15-14 and Corinthians were held 29-29 at home by Old Wesley.

Thomond climbed off the bottom with a 30-17 win over Malone but just two points separate Clonakilty and third-from-bottom Old Crescent, who were hammered 58-12 by Terenure.

In Division 3, Instonians lost their 100pc record, going down 48-6 to seven-try Greystones, who look in ominous form in third. Seapoint's 30-15 win over Naas put them top, while City of Derry slipped to fourth after a 38-32 defeat at home to Ards.

There were wins for Highfield, Suttonians and Rainey, who condemned Connemara to their 10th defeat of the season.
