England U20 star Cameron Redpath has been handed a three-month ban, which was subsequently halved, after admitting to biting an Ireland player at the world championship in Argentina.

Redpath, who has already made 13 senior appearances for Sale Sharks, played at inside centre against Ireland in the fifth-place playoff semi-final on Monday. England prevailed 30-23 following a try deep in injury time, with Redpath subsequently cited.

Redpath today received a ban for three months, with the committee subsequently reducing it to by 50 per cent because of his previous good record.

The 19-year-old is the son of Scotland legend Bryan Repath, the scrum-half who won 60 international caps, while also playing for Sale.

Ireland finish their U20 World Championship with a game against New Zealand in the seventh-place playoff.
