Johann Muller

The steely Springbok will be the fulcrum of the forwards' effort. His calm leadership and authority can help the visitors keep their heads, for Treviso will assuredly attempt to unsettle the visitors in the opening exchanges.

1 Drive for five

With Leicester likely to win in Montpellier given the noises coming out from the French side, who have made 14 changes to their side now that they have already lost two games in the pool, Ulster's drive for five points here is crucial. They must keep some distance between themselves and the Tigers before their crucial January summit meeting.

2 But secure the win first

Toulouse were just the latest of a long list of complacent, patronising sides who thought that they just had to turn up in order to claim a five-pointer. The French side were undone by Connacht's relentless attitude, and Toulouse's impertinence in spurning early three-pointers came back to haunt. Ulster must adopt a ruthless winning attitude -- the 'three, six, nine' approach -- worry about the tries later.

3 Establish pack power

Treviso will be passionate as they bid farewell to coach Franco Smith, and their selection indicates a hardened approach; the benching of flighty Mat Berquist suggests a 10-man approach will predominate. Ulster will need to respond in kind.
