Sunny Aussies quick to link Cheika with Waratahs gig

RUMOUR down Aussie way has it that after Michael Cheika missed out on the Melbourne Rebels' gig when the investor picture changed, the Waratahs have now emerged as a potential staging post for the amiable Aussie.

As former Aussie hooker Brendan Cannon writes: "The constant speculation about Michael Cheika having some involvement with the Waratahs must be a distraction."

In other rumours, Munster would still be keen to track down George Smith if the wedge is appropriate, especially as it looks like professional flirt Riki Flutey may now return to Wasps.

Munster need a back-row and, with Nick Williams due to be off-loaded, they have a slot available, but then they also need to sign a tight-head and a centre. If the signs are correct, the province aren't satisfied with the prospects coming through. DK
