Sporting Youngs could save 'Rocky' Ma'afu
Northampton Saints are hoping that Leicester hooker Tom Youngs' sporting reaction to a punch thrown by Salesi Ma'afu will help the Australian prop avoid a ban that would rule him out of the English Premiership final.
Ma'afu was sent off in Friday night's semi-final for an uppercut on Youngs that afterwards prompted the England No 2 to send a tweet to Ma'afu calling him 'Rocky'.
There were clearly no hard feelings from Youngs as he tweeted: "good shot mate, go well in the final. #rocky," accompanied by a photo of the incident.
Ma'afu responded: "cheers mate. The jersey can overcome us in the heat of battle. I owe you a pint. #respect"
The exchange drew a huge online reaction as Youngs was commended for his sportsmanship, but whether the citing commissioner will take such a lenient view remains to be seen.
