Given the amount of punishment that Johnny Sexton has taken against France over the years, the Ireland out-half couldn't have picked a more fitting opposition to end his 30-game run without scoring a try.

So often the creator, Sexton ran a trademark loop off Garry Ringrose to score his first try since the 2015 World Cup win against Canada.

Sexton doesn't score many tries at international level (11 in 88 games), and this one will have done his confidence the world of good as he looked closer to his best form.

With Ireland dominating the breakdown as well as the contact area, France were unable to lay a glove on Sexton as the platform was set for him to pull the strings in the manner that everyone knows he can.

The World Player of the Year has copped his fair share of flak in recent weeks but this was much more like it.
