Welsh rugby fans were left shocked when a "mindless moron" smashed up their minibus in Dublin's city centre.

The vandal broke all the windows on the bus, leaving the group with a €1,200 bill.

Kevin Edwards and a group of 11 of his football friends travelled to Dublin to watch Wales take on Ireland in the Aviva Stadium last weekend.

The group, from Swansea, had rented a minibus for the trip and parked it up in the Gardiner Street area two days before the match and checked on it over the weekend.

However when the driver returned on Monday morning the minibus was gone from its parking spot.

"Some mindless moron decided at 4am in the morning to smash the bus up using traffic cones and house bricks," Mr Edwards told the Herald.

"My friend got a fright when it was gone. A lady who had said she'd keep an eye on it told us what happened."

Gardai had impounded the vehicle in Swords after the shocking vandalism which left all of the windows smashed, except for the windscreen.

Despite the damage, the group took the evening ferry home and were helped by hotel staff to tape cardboard over the missing windows.

"We needed to wrap up warm on the way home," the rugby fan said.

Mr Edwards said he will return in 2018, having met some "really nice Dubliners" during the weekend.
