Watch: Rugby star Alex Cuthbert caught on camera throwing away man's phone in street altercation
Welsh Rugby Union to speak to Welsh player about public incident
The Welsh Rugby Union has confirmed that management will speak to international winger Alex Cuthbert after he was caught on video throwing away a mobile telephone belonging to a member of the public.
The giant Cardiff Blues winger was filmed as the altercation took place and it was uploaded on Twitter. The incident took place last December and was not on Welsh duty, but the player will be reminded of the code of conduct to be obeyed by all internationals.
In the video, Cuthbert is shown to launch the phone down the street, much to the annoyance of the individual who angrily confronts him, calling him an abusive name.
In response, the Lions wing is heard to say: “It’s gone mate. What are you going to do?”
A Welsh Rugby Union spokesperson told Wales Online that the incident will be spoken to by Warren Gatland and the management team.
“The Wales squad management are aware of the footage which relates to an event in 2014, which was outside of a Wales campaign," he said.
“All players selected for squad duties are reminded of the standards of conduct required of them in public. The player featured will be spoken to.”
