Lawes could miss rest of Six Nations

Courtney Lawes is in danger of missing the remainder of England's Six Nations championship with a shin injury.

The Northampton lock made his first appearance of the championship off the bench in last weekend's 19-12 defeat to Wales after overcoming a knee injury.

But Lawes was sent for a scan yesterday after complaining of shin soreness in his right leg and specialists have discovered an "inflammation of the tibia".

Lawes has been advised to keep the weight off his leg and is expected to be sidelined for weeks. England play France in Paris on Sunday week and end their Six Nations campaign at home to Ireland on March 17.

Brown magic wraps

it up for Ardscoil Ris

ArdScoil Ris, thanks to their powerful pack, qualified for the Munster Junior Cup final with an 18-10 victory over Rockwell at Dooradoyle.

The game was spoilt by far too many knock-ons by both sides, particularly Rockwell, who had overlaps on two occasions with the try-line beckoning but squandered the chance on both occasions.

Their outstanding scrum-half Ben Riley raced in for a try under the posts after nine minutes, which Bill Johnston converted.

But they had to wait until late on for Johnston to kick a penalty for their only other score.

In between, Ardscoil dominated and flanker Jerry McCabe swept in for their first try after 14 minutes. Their second, after 28 minutes, was a superbly taken effort by the excellent second-row Kelvin Brown.

David O'Mahony converted Brown's try and also kicked a penalty in each half, the second going over off the upright.
