IRISH prop Mike Ross is expecting a major response from his side against France on Saturday after the disappointment of Edinburgh.

Ireland need to beat Philippe Saint-Andre’s men this weekend to avoid a wooden spoon decider a week later against Italy in Rome and Ross is expecting a lot of pride when Ireland take to the field against the French.

"We were enormously frustrated after the Scottish game,” he said.

“We're playing at home (this Saturday), it's a big source of pride for us.

“We want to get back to winning ways. Even though the Championship is gone, it's our home patch and you want to win every time you pull on the green jersey.

“We’ll still have 50,000 Irish people there watching us. It’s an honour to pull on the green jersey and you always want to win in it.

“It doesn’t matter whether there is a Championship at stake or not.”

After his successful appeal against the length of his stamping ban, Cian Healy will join Ross in Ireland’s front-row this weekend and the tighthead is glad to have him back in the side.

“It’s good to have Cian back, it’s hard on Tom (Court). Cian has been playing very well and it is good to have him back this weekend,” he added.
