IRFU confirm Sexton and Gilroy’s availability for Italy
THE IRFU have confirmed that Jonathan Sexton and Craig Gilroy are fit and will be available for selection for Saturday’s clash with Italy in Rome.
Sexton has returned from a grade two hamstring tear he suffered in the 12-6 defeat to England at the Aviva while Gilroy has recovered from a groin strain he sustained in the defeat at Murrayfield.
Paddy Jackson has been deputising at out-half in Sexton’s absence and there will be pressure on Declan Kidney who must decide who wears the number 10 shirt against the Italians
Ulster’s Paul Marshall has also been called into the squad for Eoin Reddan who was ruled out for up to three months after he fractured his tibia in the dying minutes of Ireland 13-all draw with France.
Brian O'Driscoll (dead leg), Luke Marshall (concussion), Donnacha Ryan (shoulder) are doubts for this Saturday’s clash while Fergus McFadden has been ruled out with rib damage.
