English hype machine can't see Wood for trees with premature Hill comparison
POOR old Tom Wood. English rugby has a habit of hyping up their Premiership aces as international superstars and Northampton's Wood is the latest to get the treatment ahead of the Six Nations.
Lawrence Dallaglio and Jerry Guscott want him as the new England captain while he has also been referred to as "the new Richard Hill."
Wood is a fine player, no doubt, but at this stage, putting him at the level of one of the finest back-rows to have played the game is just a tad previous.
