'Shameful' Phillips on the brink at Bayonne
Wales and Lions scrum-half Mike Phillips' future at Bayonne is in doubt after reports emerged that he was to be suspended by the French club.
Reports in the French press yesterday claimed that Phillips had been sacked by the Top 14 side after reportedly turning up for a video analysis session under the influence of alcohol.
However, it appears that no decision will officially be made until the coming days.
Phillips, along with team-mates Dwayne Haare and Stephen Brett, was forced to account for his behaviour in front of club directors earlier this week about the incident, which allegedly occurred the day after the Amlin Cup win over Grenoble.
Bayonne chairman Alain Afflelou was angry at the apparent action of his players and vented his spleen about their "shameful" behaviour.
"I'm furious – outraged. This is unacceptable and not worthy of a professional player.
"It shows a lack of respect for the club's partners and the public. This is not the first time and we are sick of it. It's shameful."
