Video: Watch Bandon Grammar Scool score a stunning Barbarian-style try
When contemplating another disappointing World Cup and the demise of the provinces, the future of Irish would seem far from bright but this video offers light at the end of the tunnel.
Yes, Leinster and Munster are quickly fading empires and, yes, Simon Zebo, Ian Madigan and who knows else could be headed for the moneyed European giants. And, really, is anyone giddy with the prospect of next year’s Six Nations? Probably not.
Well, prepare to have your faith restored. During last week’s Bowen Shield Final against CBC Cork, Bandon Grammar School resembled France of old, vintage Barbarians and Wales circa 1970 with this incredible team try.
From a ruck on their own 10-metre line, Bandon carved through their opponents with a combination of sumptuous offloads, evasive running and clinical finishing. From start to finish, these tyros complete eight passes en route to one of the best tries you’ll see on any rugby pitch.
Unfortunately Bandon went on to lose the game 23-13 but will always have this try to remember.
