Super Saints catch fire
St Michael's 35 Castleknock Col 10 Leinster Schools Jnr Cup
Castleknock gave everything they had to bring out the best in St Michael's in this first round encounter at Donnybrook.
The 'Knock went in as underdogs, refusing to roll over as they took control of the ball and played with width and wit. But, it didn't take long to notice the flowing movement of the Aylesbury Road school.
Their out-half Niall Carroll moved into position down the right to finish off a move which began with centre Christopher Cosgrave.
The northside school's flanker Fergus Stanley crossed the line without grounding the ball before openside Ciaran McCarrick did in the 15th minute.
This prompted St Michael's to move through the gears from a variety of skilful operators, prop Lee Barron and No 8 Jack Boyle causing damage for Cosgrave to make the line ahead of his second conversion.
From there, wing Zach Harrison, Cosgrave and Barron all delivered tries for the centre to convert five-from-five.
Castleknock remained game to the end where they finished on the high note that was centre Fionn Gibbons' excellent try.
