The remarkable rise of Temple Carrig came to fruition when capturing the Bank of Ireland Vinnie Murray Cup at Energia Park.

Early tries from Joe Barford and Eoin O'Neill, both converted by Thade Shanahan, saw the Greystones school open a 14-point lead.

Shanahan then punished King's Hospital by kicking a penalty before converting a try by blindside Cillian Burke to assume a dizzying 24-0 lead at half-time. An early second-half try by Oluwatoni Lawal, converted by lock Jack Ormsby gave the Palmerstown school a lift and when Kenneth Cooper's second try made it 24-14 on 47 minutes it was game on again.
