O'Kelly gets Michael's going
St Michael's 23 St Gerard's 0
After withstanding a barrage of first-half pressure, St Gerard's resilience was eventually broken three minutes after the restart as 23 unanswered points from St Michael's booked their place in the quarter-final draw.
As soon as Ian O'Kelly crossed for the first of Michael's three tries in atrocious conditions, the writing was on the wall for a Gerard's.
Harry Byrne, brother of Leinster out-half Ross, converted O'Kelly's try and added a penalty shortly after to make it 10-0.
Stephen Judge scored a second try after 51 minutes before Byrne added another penalty.
Out-half Byrne's clever grubber kick created Michael's third try late on as winger Christopher Carey got over in the corner.
