Liam McMahon struck for two of Blackrock's five converted tries as they took back the Leinster Schools Senior Cup from Belvedere for their 69th title at The RDS.

The game was as good as over in the first-half as 'Rock openside Michael McGagh, right wing McMahon and out-half James Tarrant all burst over for tries, two converted by Tarrant and one by full-back Stephen Madigan.

The holders did recover some of their composure to hit back through prop James Gleeson's powerful thrust and full-back David Lacey's conversion in the 29th minute.

They couldn't see it out to the break, however, as Blackrock blindside Josh Dixon was the playmaker behind McMahon's second, Tarrant's extras making it 28-7 at the break.

Belvedere had to strike back quickly and they had the possession, but not the penetration to make it happen.

Eventually, their number eight Ruadhan Byron secured lineout for Cian Scott to crash over in the 52nd minute.

The seal was put on the game when replacement Ross Barron stretched for five, converted by Tarrant on the hour.
