RUTHLESS St Michael's hit St Andrew's with seven tries in this first-round clash at Stradbrook yesterday.
It must also be noted that St Andrew's had players, notably captain Greg Jones, fly-half Danny Joyce, prop Andrew Porter, their try scorer, and centre Michael Kirk to match their opponents in certain areas of the field.
However, they lacked the strength in depth and the clear game pattern that yielded St Michael's their seven tries, three in the first-half as they built up a 19-0 lead by half-time.
The outstanding individual was St Michael's centre Adam Leavy, a dead ringer in gait and style, for his Ireland U-18 Schools brother Daniel. He created the first two tries for full-back Gavin Duffy to finish off. The third came from prop Harry Redmond.
To make matters worse, the winners restarted with intent, taking the ball forward at pace for Karl Victory to ghost over in the 37th minute. And there were other tries to follow from Charlie Creegan, Alex Penny and Will Butler.
