Late tries from Eoin Kelly and Tadhg Lyons saw CBS Roscommon crowned Top Oil Connacht Junior Schools Cup champions for the second time.
fter being forced to defend during a scoreless first half, CBS Roscommon turned up the pressure on the restart with Kelly's try converted by Diarmuid Hession. Lyons made sure of victory although Sean Neary did bag a late try for the Ballina side.
Facing a powerful wind, CBS Roscommon got off to the brighter start although Hession saw his long-range penalty drift wide after 11 minutes.
St Muredach's pinned their rivals back for the rest of the half and with their dominant back row – openside Oisín Quinn was outstanding – they came close to breaking through on a handful of occasions.
And they got their reward when Kelly barged over in the 51st minute, while Lyons' flying finish five minutes later clinched the win.
