Kiernan keeps PBC on track

Presentation Brothers College advanced to the semi-finals as they ran in three tries at a sun-drenched Highfield Rugby Club yesterday.

James Kiernan was the hero, the winger scoring twice after tighthead prop Killian Kingston had opened the try scoring.

St Munchin's made the brighter start and led by 6-0 after 34 minutes, with Ben Nugent kicking a penalty and a drop goal to give the visitors a deserved lead approaching the break.

Unfortunately for the Limerick lads, they were unable to protect that lead until half-time as on the stroke of the interval Kingston touched down following some great play by the Pres pack.

And with Rory Scannell's conversion, Pres took a shock 7-6 lead at the turn.

The second period was all about Pres as they ran their opponents ragged for the majority of the half, with some terrific running rugby stretching St Munchin's to breaking point.

Kiernan's tries crowned a scintillating Pres display which was orchestrated by out-half Eamonn Mills.

Pres now head to Limerick to face Cresent College Comprehensive in the semi-finals.
