Inst make it three in a row
RBAI 12 Methodist College 8
Inst recorded a hat-trick of Ulster Schools Cup wins for the first time in 70 years with a narrow victory at Kingspan Stadium.
Inst took the lead on 15 minutes when scrum-half Rhys O'Donnell dived over in the corner, with James Hume adding the conversion. Then second row David McCann went over from a rolling maul.
Methody came back, and a penalty just before half-time led to a lineout from which Chris Larmour dived over.
Inst lost captain and out-half Michael Lowry, playing in his third final, to a knee injury following a try-saving tackle. Paul Kerr added a penalty for Methody, who dominated the closing stages but couldn't get over the line.
