Garbally College will get the chance to defend their Senior Cup title in Wednesday's final after they resisted a late fightback from visitors Sligo Grammar.

The Ballinasloe side played with the aid of a strong breeze in the first half and they wasted no time in making that advantage count as out-half Frank Hopkins glided under the posts on three minutes.

Colm Reilly struck a perfect four out of four from the boot as they accumulated a 16-0 half time lead.

After the break, Sligo offered far more threat.

Gene Donoghue's yellow card left the home side short-handed and that told when Calum McGrath chased down a blocked kick to touch down in the corner midway through the half.

Niall Gray struck a perfect conversion to go with his penalty earlier in the half, but Garbally held out.
