Rockwell clinched a place in the quarter-finals as a dominant first-half display saw them to victory over Castletroy at Clanwilliam RFC.

Tries from Conor Pearson and Dylan Farrelly - as well as a penalty and a conversion from out-half Jake Flannery - helped the Tipp school to a 15-0 interval lead.

Castletroy came back into it after the break through a Joe Johnston effort, converted by Ben Burns, but they failed to break down a well-organised Rockwell after that.

Aided by a strong breeze, Rockwell made a bright start and after sustained pressure in the Castletroy '22, they went in front.

With the Castletroy defence sucked in, Flannery's kick wide was collected by Pearson and the winger dived over. Flannery missed the conversion, but he then kicked a penalty seven minutes later to put his side 10-0 up.

Rockwell continued to dominate and eventually took full control with their second try of the game from Farrelly for a 15-0 lead.

Castletroy were a different team in the second half and were rewarded for their efforts 11 minutes in with Johnston's try.
